Bloomberg Law’s 10 Greatest Legal Movie Quotes

February 27, 2012 by Lance M. Sears

In honor of last night’s Oscar’s, the editors of Bloomberg Law chose 10 fun, interesting, and inspirational lines from legal movies. From A Few Good Men‘s “You can’t handle the truth!” to The Firm‘s “I discovered the law again.”, these movie quotes are some of the finest ever.

Of course, the list is not comprehensive, and they left out some great ones. Laws of Attraction gets two votes from me. First, Pierce Brosnan’s speech, “Divorce is the postmortem of a dead marriage. We represent people who have suddenly discovered a passion for a fight that they never knew they had in them. Where was that passion and fight when it was needed to save the marriage?”

Then there is Julianne Moore’s fabulous argument, “This is what we’re working with “Dollface”. You’ve got a devoted, hard-working wife at home, yet you cheat, lie, and blow all your money on strippers…You finally abandon her leaving her no option but to file for divorce. That’s the opposing council’s opening line. Direct. No B.S. Just the way you like it. And your wife has just hired the second best divorce attorney in New York City to deliver it.”

Reese Witherspoon delivers a great line in Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.”
