Families USA Report Reveals Insurance Scams

November 24, 2010 by Lance M. Sears

Health insurance is at the forefront of most American’s thoughts these days, and some are out to take advantage of that. A new report byFamilies USA, a consumer advocacy group, takes a look at some of these phony insurance “associations”, and exposes these scams.

The document, “Buyer Beware: Unlicensed Insurance Plans Prey on Health Care Consumers”, explains that “people mistakenly think they will get a better deal if they purchase coverage offered through an association.” Uneven oversight of coverage by states exacerbates the problem, the report says.
