Helpful Websites for Employment Questions

http://www.eeoc.gov is the website for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission which contains information on anti-discrimination laws and procedures for filing complaints of discrimination or retaliation. Generally, the federal anti-discrimination laws do not apply to employers with less than 15 employees. If you have concerns about employers with less than 15 employees, Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act may apply. See the Colorado Division of Civil Rights’ website, below, for more on Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act.

http://www.dora.state.co.us/civil-rights is the website for the Colorado Division of Civil Rights. The website includes information on anti-discrimination laws and procedures for filing complaints of discrimination or retaliation.

http://www.dol.gov The U.S. Dept. of Labor contains information relating to federal employment laws and links to helpful resources.

http://www.coworkforce.com The Colorado Dept of Labor and Employment contains information relating to various state employment laws, including forms and information on applying for and receiving unemployment benefits, workers compensation and non-payment of wages.

http://www.coworkforce.com/LAB/combodemand.pdf contains a Demand for Payment of Wages. To the extent an employee sends the Demand for Payment of Wages within 60 days of the date the employee’s separation from employment, the employee may be entitled to recover penalties from the employer for any non-payment.

http://www.coworkforce.com/LAB/Combomediation.pdf contains a Request for Mediation form which if completed and submitted to the Colorado Dept of Labor may result in the Dept of Labor assisting an employee and employer with any disputes over issues with the payment of wages, minimum wage, overtime or tips.
